about

The album name comes from a bunch of talks Levi and I had the night before recording. We talked about how there seems to be multiple parts of our lives that seem separate, like who we were died and we were born again. Levi kept calling it ego death, and so here we are now.
The picture is of Michael and his cousin Layne around twelve years ago.
Somehow these songs came together and they mean a lot to us and we hope they end up meaning something for you as well.

Track Name: Abeyant
Things are not the same no matter how you look at it/ Everyone moves on seeming to forget/ I know you know/ I'd even let you know I know/ We've always been able to conduct symphonies/ With sticks/ And Fingers/ A dance with seamless rhythm/ From uncertain start/ To the dissonant now.
There's something wrong and I can't find what's been broke/ Cogs stopped/ Rust built its empire/ I wish I had all the right words to say but they have long lost their meaning.
How can you try with no goal in mind/ No solution in sight/ I felt nothing when you walked out the door/ And I haven't since/ I don't pretend anymore/ I don't lie to myself/ A father once is a father forever/ And a brother lost is a friend left in days, remembered/
But a father is all you will ever be/ And you've lost all that you've gained/ And I have never/ Felt more alive.
Track Name: Lay
I have no need for closure/ But the more I lost the more I looked for/ The things you threw away and left unspoken/ I just want to know how you are and if things are better for you like they are for me?

Outstretched arms withholding/ A mothers embrace/ Things lost, and found and found and found and found/ A fraternal absence/ A childhood cannot be placed on hold.

Replacement and future deterrent/ A lack of involvement/ We spent years in emptier homes never meant for anyone/ Not for you, not for me.

We forget what made us the same, and when I look at you/ I don't know who you are/ Your bones show and your smile is weak/ There are things i miss and will miss and forget, and yet/ I keep telling myself/ It's not me who is holding on to it/ No its not, no its not/ It's every one else.
Track Name: Jurisdiction
Deep blue with a badge to match/ Just a gang out to make you lifeless.

Reformation resignation and separation/ The taste of air and returning home/ We cant let them cage us/ Oh how they hate so much.

Right from wrong means nothing to a blind man.

Reformation resignation and separation/ The taste of air and returning home/ We cant let them cage us/ Oh how they hate so much.

No one stands for the people anymore/ So stand for yourself

Black suits with greed to match/ Selfish people out to make you penniless/ Their sick obsession is a display/ Of power/ Self righteous magistrate/ adorned with discontent

No one stands for the people anymore/ So stand for yourself.
